The sixteen year old elegant brunette is ready for the catwalk; but only a few years earlier Rosie Gilmour was frightened to walk alone up the stairs due to her epilepsy. Battling with the frightful condition since she was nine years old; the schoolgirl has suffered up to thirty seizures a day. “When I was about 14 I feared going anywhere without a friend or my family because the seizures were so frequent.” Said the model from Perthshire. “I wouldn't walk a flight of steps at home without my brother or sister behind me because I've had seizures and have fallen down the stairs.” “I was having around 30 a day. It totally took over my life and I had to rely on people so much just to get about … At that point I'd never have thought I'd now be doing modelling by myself…It has made me feel more independent - even though my seizures haven't stopped.” Epilepsy affects one in every 131 people in the UK directly; this means that there are 456,000 at least with Epilepsy in Britain. “I've even had them on photoshoots… The first time I had two, but the next was much worse and I had about ten over a three-hour session… I still managed to complete the pictures though.” Rosie has produced stunning shots and certainly looks the part of the next supermodel. “The last bad cluster of seizures I had was on Bonfire Night last year. I had four back to back and ended up in hospital overnight…My first one was in Primary Five. I've had ECG brain scans but they have never really found a reason or what triggers them off…They said it could be set off by stress. But then I can have them when I'm totally calm too….Most are very short - around 10 seconds long. But as I've got older they've got longer - around three to five minutes.”
Many people will suffer from a seizure at one point in there life; it is a sudden change in a persons awareness, behavior or what they are doing. Not all seizures are epileptic.
“One time I had a really bad seizure and a nurse told my friends to leave me alone. They insisted on putting me into the recovery position…It was just as well they did because I was sick, so I'd have choked. That's the problem with epilepsy - not a lot of people know what to do when they see someone have a seizure.”
Rosie has been hospitalized because of fits of seizures.
Rosie was spotted by current Miss Scotland; Katharine Brown. The young model is said to have gorgeous skin, that high fashion look and a beauty face. It is supported that the model will go far.
The sixteen year old is determined to continue into her career, despite her epilepsy.

Working closely with partners throughout the industry, the institute helps to promote the interests of its members and voice their concerns. All members follow specific criteria and work together with best practices to ensure a transparent and accountable industry.

Having relationships with both industry bodies and government departments, the institute is able to provide resources for all, whether established professional or aspiring amateur.

The Institute aims to act for all within the model industry to cut exploitation and scams, whilst improving education and awareness. With the advanced ID system, you can ensure that every member of the Institute is aware of our guidelines and acts accordingly.

Working closely with dietary and nutrition partners, we have developed a key B.M.I index to allow employers/clients to ensure that they are not falling into ‘exploitation’ by using those that are unwell / in need to treatment.
